VPN server in Japan

A Tokyo exit point for East Asian routing, presenting a Japanese IP address.

Why choose Japan

  • Tokyo is one of the principal interconnection points for East Asia and the trans-Pacific cable routes.
  • A shorter path than a US or European exit for anyone physically in East Asia.
  • Services localise to Japan, which changes the language, currency and regional catalogue they present.

What actually changes

Japan is a strong choice from East Asia and the Western Pacific specifically. From Europe or the Americas it is a long way round, and an encrypted tunnel that crosses an ocean twice will feel slower than one that does not — pick by geography, not by preference.

Jurisdiction

VPN use is lawful in Japan. Japan enforces copyright law strictly, including on the downloading side; a VPN does not change what is lawful to do.

What we don't claim

Plenty of VPN pages quote speeds and server loads. We don't, because we don't publish numbers we haven't measured. What you can rely on from this page:

  • No throughput or latency figure is promised. Real speed depends on your own connection, your distance from Tokyo, and how busy the route is.
  • No claim is made about accessing any particular streaming service. Those services actively detect VPNs, and whether they work is outside our control.
  • Access is free and ad-supported, and sessions are time-based. The Terms of Service describe how that works.
  • Our no-logs policy is our own stated position, described in the Privacy Policy. It has not been independently audited, and we don't claim otherwise.
