Choosing a location changes two things: how far your traffic travels before it reaches the open internet, and whose laws apply where it gets there. Everything else — your device, your account, your habits — stays the same.
As a rule, the closest location to you is the fastest one, and the reason to override that is jurisdiction or the region a service thinks you are in. We don't publish speed or server-load figures, because we don't measure them.
